Loftia Salvaging and Item Fragments Guide

Salvaging is the resource loop behind every craft in Loftia, and the October 2026 Steam Next Fest demo gives you a compact version of it in Loftia City. Scrambled Coordinates have a chance to drop from harvesting any resource node, and if they refuse to appear, the answer is Ryder's intro Adventure quest: Patch notes #1 clarified where to find them for Ryder's quest and raised their drop chance for that quest step, while the Daily Goodies Chest hides Bloom and Scrambled Coordinates until that quest is done. When item fragments refuse to combine, the published workaround is to drop the pieces and pick them back up. Gridfall, the full salvaging district, comes in Early Access on November 3, 2026.

  • The official demo page lists salvaging resources as one of six systems you can try.
  • Scrambled Coordinates drop from harvesting any resource node, not one special node type.
  • Ryder's intro Adventure quest gates the Daily Goodies Chest version of Bloom and Scrambled Coordinates.
  • Item fragments should auto-combine when you have enough pieces; the workaround is drop and pick up.
  • Gridfall, air rails, the museum and Urbex underground salvage all come in Early Access on November 3, 2026.
  • No salvage drop rate, fragment count or node table has been published by the developers.

What salvaging means in the demo

The official demo page lists Salvaging resources among its six systems, and the official homepage sells the same loop as "Explore, Gather and Craft", with abandoned factory scavenging, puzzles and group quests across different biomes. In the demo the chain is simple: find a resource node, harvest it, walk away with raw materials plus the occasional quest-relevant extra. The demo covers Loftia City only, and the questline ends just before you would enter the next district, so you never see the full salvage district here.

Plan around that. The demo runs October 19 to October 26, 2026, and what you gather carries over: the Steam announcement for the demo launch says completed quests, collected items and character progression all remain with you. Start with the Loftia beginner guide.

Scrambled Coordinates: where they come from

The official known-issues page, updated October 21, 2026 at 10:07 AM, lists a quest entry titled Finding Scrambled Coordinate: Scrambled Coordinates have a chance to drop from harvesting any resource node. No special node, no hidden cave, no vendor.

Patch notes #1, published the same day, added what actually unblocks players: the developers clarified where to find Scrambled Coordinates for Ryder's quest and increased their drop chance during that quest step.

What nobody has published is a number. The patch note describes an increase without quantifying it, and no table of node types, yields or fragment probabilities exists in any official material.

Ryder's quest and the Daily Goodies Chest gate

The most confusing part of salvaging in the demo has a quest as its answer, not a patch. Patch notes #1 states that Bloom and Scrambled Coordinates from the Daily Goodies Chest now unlock after completing Ryder's intro Adventure quest.

Read that as a change, because that is how it is written. Before the patch, both chest contents were available to anyone who opened the chest; after it, they stay locked until you finish that quest. A chest that looks bare is therefore expected behaviour, and one of the most common reasons players think the salvage system is broken.

Ryder is the official Adventurer among Loftia's fifteen residents, described on the official site as a fearless, easygoing adventurer. Your first salvage quest chain runs through him; the full roster is on the Loftia NPC and character list.

Finish Ryder's intro Adventure quest before you judge the chest

If the Daily Goodies Chest looks empty, complete Ryder's intro Adventure quest first. Bloom and Scrambled Coordinates unlock only after that quest, and Patch notes #1 also raised the coordinate drop chance for the same quest step.

A second quest snag sits nearby: the known-issues page records that Amani's "Ready to Rumble" ignores skills you levelled before the quest started and asks for three additional levels to finish that stage. The full list is on the Loftia patch notes and known issues page.

Item fragments: why they stop combining, and how to fix it

The fragment bug has two official layers. The known-issues entry, under Inventory, describes intended behaviour first: when you collect enough pieces, they should automatically combine into the finished item. The published workaround when that fails is explicit: drop the pieces and pick them back up, which triggers the combine check again.

The second layer is the fix. Patch notes #1, shipped October 21, 2026, lists "Fixed item fragments staying uncombined after collecting enough pieces" as bugfix number two.

Symptom Official status What to do right now
Fragments collected, finished item never appears Known issues, updated Oct 21, 2026 Drop the pieces and pick them back up
Same symptom after the Oct 21, 2026 patch Patch notes #1 lists it as fixed Use the workaround, then report it on the official bug report page
Seeds or materials missing from the bag Known issue; the tool wheel is the escape hatch Hold R (or the gamepad button) to open the tool wheel and add the item from the inventory

The gamepad half of that shortcut is real but partial: the official FAQ says Loftia is fully playable with controller or gamepad and supports the Steam Deck, while the Loftia Steam store page still categorises the game as Partial Controller Support.

Do not add fragment numbers from the community

The developers have never published how many pieces make up which item, or what a node yields. Community-compiled fragment counts exist but shift with balance patches, so treat any specific number as community-reported.

Salvaged materials feed refining stations, not a crafting bench. See the Loftia crafting basics guide.

Gridfall and Urbex: the salvaging district at launch

The full salvaging district is called Gridfall, and the official description is unusually vivid: a concrete jungle built from scraps and love on the remains of the old world, where you ride air rails, scale towering skyscrapers, uncover stories of the past at the museum, dance along with the locals, and explore secret underground tunnels with friends. Gridfall is not in the demo. It opens for ordinary players in Early Access on November 3, 2026 at 1pm EST, which is 2am on November 4 in Beijing time.

Two Early Access features sit on top of the salvaging loop. Urbex, short for Urban Exploration, covers underground areas where you hop down and, with a special tool, collect rare resources and discover hidden nooks and crannies within Gridfall. And the proficiency ceiling stops being a demo limitation: Early Access takes your proficiencies beyond the demo's Level 5 cap and adds Perks to invest in. The developers name Farming, Crafting, Cooking and Fishing "or something else", so a salvage proficiency is plausible but unconfirmed. The Loftia Gridfall guide covers the layout; Loftia Urbex covers the underground layer.

The residents are already published. Mita is the official Gridfall Manager and the structured twin to her brother Milo's chaos. Milo is the Repair Specialist, a junkyard genius stuck between the scraps of the past and the future he is trying to build. Gridfall was already opened to players during the April 2026 closed beta, so its layout is already known.

What is still unconfirmed before launch

  • No salvage drop rates, node yields or fragment counts have been published; any page showing those numbers is guessing or reporting community testing.
  • The known-issues list was last updated October 21, 2026, 10:07 AM. Check the Loftia news page for a newer revision.

FAQ

Where do I find Scrambled Coordinates in Loftia? They have a chance to drop from harvesting any resource node, according to the official known-issues page, so no special node is required. Patch notes #1 also raised the drop chance during Ryder's quest step.

Why won't my item fragments combine into a finished item? The official known-issues page says fragments should automatically combine once you have enough pieces, and gives the workaround: drop the pieces and pick them back up. Patch notes #1 shipped a fix for this, so use the drop-and-pick-up trick if it persists after October 21, 2026.

Why is the Daily Goodies Chest missing Bloom and Scrambled Coordinates? Those two chest contents unlock only after you complete Ryder's intro Adventure quest, a gate added in Patch notes #1. An empty-looking chest before that quest is expected behaviour, not a bug.

Is Gridfall available in the Steam Next Fest demo? No. The demo covers Loftia City, and the official demo page says the questline ends just before you would enter the next district. Gridfall comes in Early Access on November 3, 2026.

Can I keep what I salvage in the demo? Yes. The Steam announcement for the demo launch says completed quests, collected items and character progression all carry over into Early Access, so bank your materials before October 26, 2026.
